As a problem solver and a helper, your most powerful weapon is a question. Not only does it help you to determine the true needs of your prospects, but it also helps to build rapport. Wouldn't it be nice to have your prospects thinking that you truly care about their situation rather than just selling them your product or service regardless of whether or not it is a good fit?

These are some valuable tips on sales:

Attitude can be everything - It is important to remember that your attitudes drive all actions and these actions are perceived by buyers as trust-building or trust-breaking. The most important change you can make to sell more successfully is to adopt and reinforce attitudes that will lead to actions resulting in greater levels of trust. Conversely, it is just as important to "lose the attitudes" that result in actions that are trust-breaking.

Be trustworthy. If your prospect does not trust you, they will continually ask you for a lot of information to back up what you say and they will continually be raising objections. They will feel they need to check everything for themselves as they can't trust what you say. Also they will make no assumptions about you, your company or your products and services.

Ethics & Character: As important as each of these techniques are, they will be ineffective if implemented in a dishonest or unethical way. Of course money can and is made from unethical approaches and tactics; however, those individual salesmen and companies who do this will always be revealed, and failure will eventually be the result. Professional and effective salesmen realize that honesty is just as important as product knowledge, integrity is far more important than sales techniques, and a person's character, kindness, professionalism, and honesty always result in increased profits, repeat customers, and greater success.

Hard Work. Nothing can take the place of hard work. It is also a good idea to work smart however, when you are just starting out, you may not know how to work smart yet, thus you must do the hard work to get the job done.

Apply Technology: Effective salesmen use high-end technological tools to gain and manage information. Moreover, they use advanced devices, such as projectors and laptops, to deliver impressive presentations.

Keep your mind on the goal.

Don't loose focus on your goal. Every hour of every day focus on it and work hard from morning until you pack up to leave.

Stay Positive-Fire up!: It's been declared, "That the greatest discovery of our generation is that people can alter the outer aspects of their lives by changing the inner attitudes of their minds." This isn't a motivational speech here. It is a reminder that you have tremendous potential. Success and an optimistic outlook on life is a choice. So when things go wrong or there are problems think them through, act in a proactive way, think of your goals and sell something that helps one of your customers. It's amazing how a positive momentum will fire you up. Remember to provide excellent service to your customers as well. Finally, to be a superstar salesperson memorize this statement, "Excellent selling is excellent service and excellent service is excellent selling!"

Build Relationships

Everybody loves to buy and people buy from people they know and trust. When relationships are built with authenticity and integrity, the relationship endures beyond any potential sale.

If you aren't SELLING your business... you are missing out! The art of selling, quite simply, is the heart and soul of any business. Bottom-line: if sales aren't happening, you are not generating revenue and you don't have a business. Finally, if you still hate selling, I recommend that you get rid of those old, negative beliefs and change your attitudes and your mindset. After all, whether you like it or not, selling is necessary to be successful. Learn to love it, and you'll be much more successful and achieve your goals a lot faster.
